How do I eat tzatziki sauce?

The thick, light and refreshing tzatziki appetizer is very popular in Greek cuisine. It is eaten with any garnish, or with vegetables, or used as a spread for Greek bread or flatbread.

Tzatziki is not just the most popular Greek sauce; it is a dish without which no meal in a Greek tavern is complete.

Step 1

Peel the cucumber.

Step 2

Grate the cucumber on a coarse grater.

Step 3

Squeeze the flesh of the cucumber through a sieve. This is necessary to make the sauce thick.

Step 4

Finely chop the greens.

Step 5

Add soy yogurt, olive oil, finely chopped parsley, dill, salt and pepper to the cucumber.

Step 6

Finely chop or mince the garlic and add to the sauce. Mix well. You can add more garlic to your taste.

Step 7

Serve the sauce garnished with olives.

Enjoy your meal!
