  • 8 cups peeled and sliced apples (I used Granny Smith)
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Crumb Topping
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour (I used whole wheat pastry flour)
  • 2/3 cup Earth Balance Buttery Spread
  • 1/2 cup oats

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a 9×13 baking dish, spread the sliced apples. Pour the water over the apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

Step 2

In a bowl, add the flour, sugar, brown sugar, and Earth Balance. Work together until crumbly, using a pastry blender. Stir the oats into the crumb mixture. At this point, Pryce said, “It’s starting to get pretty.”

Step 3

Spread crumb mixture over apples. Bake uncovered about 50 minutes, until apples are tender and crumb topping is crispy or browned.

Step 4

My mom used to have apple crisp baking in the oven when my sister and I got home from school. Today, I had apple crisp baking in the oven when Jadon got home from school. What a great tradition to carry on.

Step 5

I knew we should have bought more apples!

Bon Appetit!
